Pastor's Pen - May 24, 2015

As I go through life I often come across quotes that make me think and sometimes challenge me to grow or stretch. Here are some I have found posted on a Facebook page called “A Message from God”. Some things to ponder…


JOY, PEACE, LOVE Do you believe certain things have to happen before you can experience joy, peace & love? Do you realize you have the God given ability to CHOOSE to have joy, love & peace  WITHOUT anything special happening outside of you  that you can be happy for absolutely no reason at all? Do you understand that God made it so you can GENERATE these emotions for others wherever you are, whenever you choose? And now that you know this . . . will you actually do it?


WHY ME? A brother of mine gave me this word from God, and I pass it on to you: "When you are going through something, it is not always about you. Sometimes God takes us through things so that those around us can see our faith in action and be strengthened by it. There are people watching you that you are not aware of  and they are taking notes on how you move through your troubles, how you stay prayerful in them, how you throw your shoulders back and hold your head high. Even in your troubles, God is using you to bless others." And that is a blessing indeed!


TALENTS, GIFTS The gift that God gave you is a seed. In your pocket, it does nothing. Put it into fertile soil, water it & give it light? It grows and not only will its fruit feed you, it is designed to feed those around you. You are not doing anyone any favors by keeping your talents and gifts in your pocket. If you ever want to reap a harvest . . . you'd better start sowing . .
Underneath your adversary's bad behavior, there is another human. Look closely, beyond the surface. You'll see
they are in pain. You'll see their confusion & sorrow, their broken heart & shattered dreams. Look even closer & you'll see another divine being, in need of kindness & forgiveness, another soul in need of grace. Another Child of God  just like you. . .


Welcome the Holy Spirit into your heart!
