Pastor's Pen - June 14, 2015

On May 2/3 I invited the members of our parish to nominate candidates for service on our Pastoral Council. Sixty parishioners
 either nominated themselves or were nominated by others. The day after the nominations I sent a personal letter to the nominees inviting them to pray over the matter of serving on our Pastoral Council. Out of the nine people who
agreed to be part of the !inal discernment process, four of them, Sonja Fendryk, Larry Geisler, Cindy Robinson & Mark Sanderson will serve as new council members, one of whom will be completing a member’s one year term.


The discernment took place on June 3 with the involvement of the members of the Pastoral Council under the prayerful leadership of Art Scheuber, the Chair of the Stewardship Committee. Congratulations to Sonja, Larry, Cindy and Mark. The number of gifts that the all the nominees possess was a joy to reflect on and pray about that evening. Their enthusiasm to serve Christ’s mission in and through St. Paul’s Pastoral Council was uplifting and inspiring.


I want to thank the four members of the Pastoral Council who have served with such responsible dedication, Dave Gergen, Jean Hale, Beth McFadzen & Mary Taugher. Thank you all so much for the servant-leadership! May God reward you!


At the upcoming June 24 Pastoral Council Meeting another discernment process will take place to select council officers for the coming year. Please pray to the Holy Spirit for our council that evening.
