On Saturday, March 7, the parish leadership of St. Bruno and St. Paul Parishes (Pastoral Councils, Finance Councils, and Pastoral Staffs) met together from 8:30 – 2:30 to begin the process of “strategic planning” for 2016. Input from recent parishioner forums and listening sessions led by Rita Borowski, our consultant, along with statistical information about each parish and Waukesha County (past and projected future), and a presentation by Fr. Chuck on the “vision” for the two parishes’ individual mission and future collaborations was shared as background for prayer, reflection, and creative thinking.
The energy and willingness to participate was inspiring and positive. You could feel the work of the Holy Spirit moving throughout the day. By the end of the day, about thirty different themes were raised up for study and development over the next couple of months. Different groups will tackle these themes and put flesh on them for further consideration of the parish communities. All of this is leading to the day when St. Bruno and St. Paul Parishes will have one priest shepherding them (June, 2016), and they will need to collaborate more fully as brother and sister communities. Through the intercession of St. Bruno and St. Paul and our prayers, may we fulfill God’s will and mission relating to our two parishes and our future.
