1863 --Nestled in the beautiful Kettle Moraine, a location for our first church was donated by John and Catherine Magee, and in the late 1800’s a simple wood frame church was constructed. It was named for St Paul, Apostle to the Gentiles. Originally a mission church to St Theresa’s in Eagle and later to St James in Mukwonago, parishioners increased from about 25 in 1870 to about 95 in the early 1950’s when St Paul’s became an independent parish. The original church building still stands on Hwy 83, a few doors down from Magee School.
1963—Land was purchased and a new church, rectory, and school were built on the present 15 acre site. The Church was built in a Swiss Chalet style with walls of natural multi-colored fieldstone. The interior of the church was constructed of rough cedar with a seating capacity of 350. In the Fall of 1964 St Paul School opened its doors with a faculty of three Sisters of St Joseph of the Third Order of St Francis and one lay teacher.
1997—Parishioners grew to 650 families in the late 1980’s, and by 1997, over 900 families called St Paul’s home. The Parish Life Center, including a gym, kitchen, cafeteria, and class/meeting rooms were built to accommodate our growing parish family and its many activities and ministries.
2007—By 2001, the parish had outgrown the church, with the 9:15 and 11:00AM Masses being held in the gym since the completion of the PLC. A larger worship space was needed. Ground was broken for the current church on June 1, 2006. It has a large gathering space with seating capacity for 1000. It was important to the parish community that as many artifacts and décor of the earlier churches be incorporated into the new building. Fieldstone, stained glass windows, statues, pews and three bells from the previous churches have become an integral part of the worship space. On November 4, 2007, a new St Paul’s Church was dedicated to the Honor and Glory of God.
2015--St Paul’s is a strong Catholic parish, with dynamic staff and parishioners who are anxious to serve Our Lord through our many activities. Using our cluster relationship with St Bruno Parish in Dousman , we strive to strengthen the Catholic Church in this community.
